Definitely a fun experiment – I am surprised at how fast the water, when placed on top of oil, sank. I was expecting a slower separation, like what I experience with salad dressing. Silly question: isn’t it gravity that makes the denser molecule sink to the bottom?
Very interesting experiment! I’ll be thinking of “density” the next time I shake up my salad dressing. What other liquids have the same characteristics as water (dense and cohesive)?
